Hill Country Nazarene

Greetings From District Assembly:

Dear Church Family,
Dr. Johnson, our District Superintendent preached an inspiring message on Wednesday evening titled: Now is the Time to Love Your Neighbor! This challenge was shared with us as a part of a three-fold emphasis that the Church of the Nazarene Denomination is asking all of us to follow so that we may become more engaged in “being about our Father’s business.” Jesus came to love, heal, and forgive everyone. He did this because of God’s love for us. See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! (I Jn. 3:1)

We the Church of Jesus Christ are motivated to share that love with our world. That begins by each of us remembering what Paul writes in Romans 13:8: "Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law." We cannot keep this lavished love to ourselves; we must share it with our neighbors. Paul goes on to say in verse 10, "Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law."

We will pay this debt of love we owe in three ways: (Our emphasis for 2024 – 2027)

Blessing Our Community by putting God’s love into action in our communities and reaching out to our neighbors with acts of love and kindness;
Bringing People to Jesus by sharing the Good News of the Gospel everywhere we go, beginning with our neighbors (anyone in our circle of influence) and those who live within the community where our church exists, inviting them to come to church with us;
Becoming Christlike Disciples. This is our mission… In Matthew 28:19-20 Jesus said, "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” This is why our church exists!

You will hear more about this as we work together as the people of God to be Jesus to our world!

Attend the Assembly: Tonight, Thursday, April 25, you can join those of us attending District Assembly for worship at 7 PM by clicking on this link:

During this service Pastor Russom will be recognized for his many years of service to the Church, and will be placed officially into retirement status. However, that does not mean he will be retiring from ministry, and will continue to be our interim pastor until God provides us with a new pastor/leader. The ordination service is also very inspiring and you will hear from Dr. Crocker, one of our six General Superintendents.

Men's & Women's Fellowship Events

Men: Several of our men want to restart the Saturday Morning Men's Breakfast. It will be a time of eating, fellowship, and prayer. Watch for more information.

Women: Donna McElvaine is working on plans for women's get-togethers for the summer. In the fall she hopes to start a women's Bible study. Be watching for announcements about these events!

Dennis Davison and Patty Lefner are working toward starting a 15-week intensive discipleship development course. It is called "One on One with God." This is for people who are serious about spiritual growth and development as a disciple of Jesus. You will hear more about this soon.
