Pray Without Doubt

Greetings Church!

I hope everyone was able to stay warm during the snow we had on Tuesday. I know my kids had a blast playing in the little snow we got. We made snow ice cream (or as Emma Jo calls it, "snice cream") and built a tiny snowman. I had mentioned that they have been praying for snow since November, and then we finally got some.

This reminds me of two passages. The first passage is from Luke 18:16-17. It says, "Jesus called for them, saying, 'Permit the children to come to Me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it at all."' Children have such innocence and wonder about them that we are reminded that our faith should be pure and full of wonder. We should see things with new eyes each day and not take them for granted. I have seen snow many times, but when I see my kids enjoy it, it reminds me of when I had the same awe and wonder when it snowed.

The second passage is about prayer specifically. It is from Mark 11:24, as Jesus is driving money changers out of the temple after the Triumphal Entry. Jesus says, "Therefore I say to you, all things which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you." This is not to say everything our heart desires will happen the way we want it to. It tells us to pray without doubt, in full faith that God hears you and will answer it. It may not be the next day or even the next week. The action of prayer is faith building and each answered prayer we receive should grow our faith.

Let's not forget that our heart must be pure, our soul be rested and restored, and our mind's sole focus be on the Lord. Join with me this Sunday as we finish our series about loving God with all our strength. I can't wait to worship with all of you.

Shalom,
