Just Keep Praying
Warmest Greetings Church!
|
I hope you all have stayed warm this week. It has been cold, though not snowing, much to the dismay of my children. They have been praying for snow since November. Even though the conditions this week presented themselves as an opportunity for the snow to come, it hasn't yet come. How many times have we as Christians prayed for something, seen the opportunity present itself, and yet, the Lord did not allow it to happen? Does this mean God didn't hear or care about your prayer? Quite the opposite, in fact. God wants us to continue to pray to Him even when we almost have the answer. To continue even in what we would call a "let down." God does not let us down. God is testing the perseverance and endurance of your faithfulness in prayer. Paul writes to the churches in Thessalonica, Ephesus, Philippi, and Colossae this exact thing.
|
- Ephesians 6:18 "With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints,"
- Philippians 4:6 "Be anxious for nothing, but in prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God."
- Colossians 4:2-3 "Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving; praying at the same time for us as well, that God will open up to us a door for the word, so that we may speak forth the mystery of Christ, for which I have also been imprisoned."
- 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 "Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."
Even when it seems like your prayer has not been answered, keep praying, don't stop praying and have the faith that God hears you and will answer it in the most beautiful way. Who knows, it might snow tomorrow and it might not. What I do know is that my children will keep praying until it happens. Have that kind of faith in God. I can't wait to worship with you on Sunday.
