Message From Pastor Jim and Susan

Dear Church Family,
Thank you for the opportunity and privilege of serving you. It has been a joy to get to know you and share in the good things that God has done for our church. You have a special place in our hearts. We will visit (in the future) to worship with you and enjoy the ministry of Pastor Donovan and Danni McMahan. They are two of God's precious servants. They will love you, and I know you will love them.

Changes in leadership often bring about changes in the church. This is normal. Consider Exodus 33 and 34. Moses bids farewell to the people and gives them his blessing. He reminds them that God alone is their source of strength and security. He then commends Joshua as their new leader. "Joshua, the son of Nun was filled with the spirit of Wisdom..." Exodus 34:9a That means that Joshua was a man who sought his wisdom and strength from the Lord, as a man of faith. I know personally that Pastor Donovan has those same traits. I am so grateful that God has led you to choose him to be your new pastor. God had a plan to give Israel a bigger and better future, so He asked them: "See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland." (Isa. 43:19) I ask that you love, support, and follow his leadership as he leads the church forward. Together you will see the mighty hand of God at work in Hill Country Nazarene. The future is as bright as the promises of God.

November 17: Let's Fill the House!

Pastor Donovan's first Sunday is Nov. 17. Let's plan on a "full house!" We will take communion together on that first Sunday. We will also have an all-church potluck meal so everyone will have an opportunity to visit with the McMahan family following worship.

Samaritan's Purse Ministries

We are involved with SPM in two ways:
  1. We are participating in Operation Christmas Child. For more information go to this link. It will lead you to a page that gives you all the information you need. You can use a typical teen/adult-size shoe box as a container. We need them at church by November 17, so there's no time to lose. Ask Sandra Arnold for more information.
  2. Our own Bruce and Donna McElvaine have volunteered to serve for a week in N. Carolina to assist hurricane victims. They are going at their own expense. Cover them with your prayers, and let us also consider a love offering to help them with their travel expenses.
