Committment to the Mission

This Sunday will be the final sermon from the ACTS: Fulfilling the Mission series. It has been good to see the essentials established by the Early Church, as well as the warnings regarding things that can get us off mission.

In the process, we have also learned and rejoiced in the truth that Hill Country Nazarene is committed to fulfilling the Great Command and the Great Commission. One thing that I have discovered over the years: when churches are on mission, God provides the resources to fulfill the mission. Certainly the generous gift to our building fund is a confirmation that God is pleased with our commitment to His mission and His vision for our church and community.

Next weekend is Labor Day Weekend. The sermon text on September 2 will be Colossians 3:22-23. It is important that we see our work as part of our Testimony to the Lordship of Christ in our lives. God wants to bless us and use our work to bless our employer and our fellow employees. The Bible has something to say about this; we will learn it together.

On September 8 I will begin a new preaching series from the Epistle to the Philippians called Living Joyfully. We will discover and apply the principles of God's word that enable us to experience the joy of Jesus in our lives. Jesus desires that we would have His joy and that it would be complete. Check out John 15: 9 - 11.

Prayer Requests

  • Bill and Pat Wilson: continue to deal with health issues.
  • Jose Cavazos: Cancer treatments
  • Mike Hedman: Employment
  • The Church needs a new liability insurance company. Our policy expires Sep. 30, 2024 as the company is leaving TX and no longer insuring churches in TX.

REACHING THE ONE!

There is a small glass container with slips of paper and a pen behind the "ONE BOX" on the communion table. Feel free to place a new or additional name of someone you hope to reach for Christ in the box. Then, at pastoral prayer time, come and pray for the "ONE or ONES" you are hoping to reach for Christ.

Every Saturday!

Saturday at 4 PM @ HCN:
Meet with Danette for Prayer Warrior Ministry. Pray about our church, its members, and anything else that is on your heart.

Building Fund

We are on our way to fulfilling the challenge to match the generous gift that was given to us for our building fund. The Goal is $30,000. We have already received $3500.

I am confident that we can reach our goal. It would be great if we could achieve this before the end of the year. These resources will enable us to take care of some much needed repairs and needs for the future. — Pastor Jim
