Generosity Glorifies God
In Philippians chapter 4, we read of a generous offering sent by the Christians in Philippi to the Apostle Paul at a time when he needed financial assistance. As a matter of fact, this church was the most generous and faithful of all the churches he planted. (See Phi. 4: 12 - 17).
|
Paul is thankful and expresses his thanksgiving accordingly. 18 I have received full payment and even more; I am amply supplied, now that I have received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent. They are a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God. 19 And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus. 20 To our God and Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Philippians 4:18-20 (NIV) Even in this thank you note Paul teaches some important principles: 1. Our gifts and offerings are fragrant, acceptable and pleasing to God. 2. God rewards those who are generous by supply all of their needs as well. 3. The Father and Christ are glorified when God's people are generous.

This past Sunday we gave God the glory for supplying a gift of thirty-thousand dollars for the building fund through the obedience and generosity of one individual. We have been challenged to step up and match that gift by participating in the support of the building fund. May it be said of us, that we are a generous and sacrificial people, like the Christians in Philippi. Pray and ask God what He would have your and your family to do to help us match that thirty-thousand dollar gift. For we know that if we do, God will do for us what He did for the Philippians. He will meet our personal and family needs as well. Pray and ask God to enable us to meet and match the goal of an additional thirty-thousand dollars.

Pastoral Candidates
The District has presented two video interviews of possible pastoral candidates for the Church Board to consider. Plus, we are told that the Church in Florida which has offered to help us, is still on the table. The Church Board will view these interviews, consider the Florida Option, and ask God go guide them in how to move forward in the pastoral search. Our prayer is and always will be: "Lord, we want the person You want to be our pastor." Pray for God's guidance regarding His will on the matter.
