Preparing for Sunday Sept. 22, 2024: We want God's will to be accomplished.
This coming Sunday, you will have the opportunity to meet Rev. Donovan McMahan, his wife Danni and their children. They are coming, along with Rev. McDowell, Asst. DS, to meet the congregation, preach for Sunday AM Service, and then be interviewed by the Church Board at a lunch meeting for the Board Families and the Pastoral Candidate's family. While we cannot ignore the fact that it will be a "first impression" meeting; it is important that you come with open hearts, and a prayerful attitude. When you pray, ask God to enable the Church Board and your family to clearly sense His leading in the matter. All along we have prayed, "Lord we want the person that You want!"

Please do not compare any pastoral candidate to me. If God had wanted Susan and me to be your permanent pastoral team, He would have already made it plain. Instead, God has something else for us to do and has given us the privilege of being your interim pastoral team. You have loved and supported us for the last 15 months. You are a loving church family. Susan and I want you to know that the greatest way to honor our time together, is to love your new pastor the same way you have loved us. If the McMahan family is God's choice, then He will lead us and guide us in that direction. While this would be Rev. McMahan's first senior pastorate, it is not his first pastoral role. He is the Children's pastor at Killeen Church of the Nazarene, and has done an outstanding job! The Lord has led him to move beyond being a staff pastor to being a senior pastor. Like me, he has had good mentoring while serving in staff ministry. He will bring that mentoring and pastoral experience with him. Obviously Dr. Johnson and Rev. McDowell have confidence in Pastor Donovan, or they would not have recommended the McMahan family to us.

REACHING THE ONE!

There is a small glass container with slips of paper and a pen behind the "ONE BOX" on the communion table. Feel free to place a new or additional name of someone you hope to reach for Christ in the box. Then, at pastoral prayer time, come and pray for the "ONE or ONES" you are hoping to reach for Christ.
